- The Briton overtook Hayden Wilde with 2.5km to go in a dramatic Olympic victory in July
- He left it even later in Boston, overtaking the New Zealander on the final corner.
- But Wilde was left furious when Yee crossed his arms in celebration with just metres to go.
British triathlon star Alex Yee repeated his Olympic trick of outpacing fierce rival Hayden Wilde in the final minute to seal victory, but this time he celebrated before he even crossed the line.
The Briton overtook his New Zealand opponent with just over 2km to go in a gruelling triathlon in Paris last month, overturning a 14-second deficit to seal gold.
The sudden surge seemed to come out of nowhere as the 26-year-old overtook his fellow athlete to improve on the silver he had won in Tokyo three years earlier.
A thoroughly fed-up Wilde, left gasping for air in the scorching Paris heat as he reflected on his defeat, could have been forgiven for thinking the last-minute fightback was a one-off.
But he would have been wrong, as Yee caused lightning to strike twice yesterday, this time even later to seal victory at the Boston Super Tri.

Yee seemed to come out of nowhere to overtake Wilde (in background) during the Olympics.
As the Briton approached the finish line, he crossed his arms in celebration before breaking the tape, arms still crossed and staring into the camera.
Wilde, who crossed the line behind Yee just a second later, was not happy with his opponent’s behaviour, throwing up his arms in disbelief and shaking his head.
Either way, the Englishman can now bask in the glory of another victory in a growing rivalry between the pair after a tactically astute display in the United States.
The supertri consists of three triathlons in a row and Yee found herself setting the pace from the first cycling stage through to the second stage of the race.
When the athletes ran for the first time, the eventual podium finishers, Yee, Wilde and Frenchman Dorian Coninx, had broken away from the chasing pack.
During the second triathlon, the Briton slightly lost ground while Vincent Luis, also from France, took the lead after an intense swim.
However, Yee soon returned to action once again, and as the competitors entered the final stage, there were six athletes battling it out.
And the group stayed together until the last heat, which the Englishman started badly after it seemed like his bike was going to fall off.
Yesterday Yee appeared out of it with just seconds remaining in the supertri.
But he repeated the trick he performed in Paris and won in the United States by just one second.
Yee brought out his confident celebration, continuing to stare at the camera seconds after the race had finished, while Wilde stood fuming in the background.

The Briton also won bronze in the team triathlon event in Paris to cap a successful Games.
With Wilde in front, Yee gritted his teeth and stepped on the gas, overtaking the New Zealander only around the final corner.
A quick glance over his shoulder as the pair approached the tape, and Yee brought out his confident celebration, continuing to stare at the camera seconds after the race had finished, with Wilde fuming in the background.
The Briton also won bronze in the team triathlon event in Paris, after he and teammates Georgia Taylor-Brown, Samuel Dickinson and Beth Potter were denied silver following a photo replay.
