Taylor Swift’s first concert in Sydney started late on Friday night after storms and rain caused the temporary evacuation of Accor Stadium.

Even though the set for Sabrina Carpenter’s support act was cancelled, Swift finally took the stage a little after the scheduled 7:30 p.m.

Watching proudly was her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, who drew a roar from the crowd when he arrived to proudly watch his pop star lover do what he does best.

In videos shared on social media, the NFL star was seen entering the stadium before finding his seat in a special VIP box.

The footballer couldn’t wipe the smile off his face as Taylor took to the stage in one of her iconic sparkly leotards.

Travis opted for a smart blue-printed shirt and matching shorts, as well as a pair of white sneakers.

He walked through the crowd applauding him before being led to his VIP seat, where he was seen smiling as he watched Taylor perform.

Bad weather that hit Sydney on Friday night caused chaos among the 80,000 Swifties heading to their first Eras Tour show in the city.

Fans sitting on the ground and in the lower levels of the stadium were asked to enter after lightning struck just 10 kilometers away shortly before 6pm.

A statement from Accor Stadium issued shortly before 6pm informed concertgoers that the three-hour show had been delayed.

“Please note that due to weather, the start time of the show has been delayed,” it said.

‘Remain undercover until further notice and follow venue screens and staff instructions.

“Stay safe and remember to be kind to those around you.”

Swift took the stage around 7:50 p.m., while her support act Sabrina Carpenter was canceled for Friday night’s performance.

Earlier, a man’s voice was heard over a loudspeaker in the stadium, informing fans that lightning had struck 10 kilometers away and that ticket holders should evacuate.

A crowd of concertgoers, most wearing plastic rain ponchos, were seen moving toward covered areas of the stadium after the announcement.

Accor Stadium had said the show would go ahead unless there was “severe weather that could impact the safety of performers and patrons.”

“I’m really nervous about the rain, it’s pretty clear here but Accor hasn’t announced when the show will start yet,” one Sydney Swiftie, Annabelle, told Daily Mail Australia before the show started.

“I’m a little stressed about the noise curfew and all that.”

It is understood that the Accor Stadium will have a curfew from 11pm. Swift’s Eras Tour shows last just under three and a half hours.

Taylor spent some time relaxing before the show as she and her boyfriend Travis visited Sydney Zoo.

The pop star and her NFL star partner went on a date night at the 16.5 hectare site earlier this week ahead of Swift’s three concerts in Australia’s biggest city, and were even seen cuddling a little one kangaroo.

The couple will spare no expense for their overseas reunion in Australia, and the two will stay at one of Sydney’s most elegant and extravagant hotels.

The couple are staying at the elegant Crown Towers, the city’s first six-star hotel, located in the port neighborhood of Barangaroo, during Swift’s four-day stop in Sydney for her Eras Tour.

With exclusive restaurants, luxurious facilities and top-notch amenities throughout the property, the venue is guaranteed a luxurious experience, something that both Taylor and Travis are more than accustomed to.

However, the loved-up couple opted for the most opulent (and most expensive) room the hotel has to offer: the Crown Presidential Villa.

The palatial residence is so luxurious that guests should check their nightly rates, which typically start at a dazzling $16,300 (AUD$25,000) per night.

Billed as the largest villa on the property at 860 square feet, the two-story hotel room is situated on the 88th floor and offers stunning panoramic views of Sydney and Sydney Harbor through its floor-to-ceiling windows.

Taylor’s visit comes after she literally stopped traffic on Tuesday night when she went out to dinner in Sydney.

The global superstar surprised onlookers at Pellegrino 2000, a neighborhood trattoria located in Surry Hills.

Taylor looked every inch the local hipster, opting for a low-key black gypsy top paired with a brown suede skirt for the outing.

She made the most of her night off with fellow singer Sabrina Carpenter, who is currently supporting Taylor on her sold-out Eras tour.

The Girl Meets World star stunned in a red minidress with white fringe details and simple stockings in the back.

Sabrina accessorized her look with a classic Louis Vuitton bag and wore a black leather-look jacket to protect herself from Sydney’s unpredictable weather of late.

Taylor is currently enjoying some time off in Sydney after her Eras Tour took Melbourne by storm, selling out three days at the famous MCG.

Swift will perform four shows in Sydney from Friday, February 23 to Monday, February 26.
