Detectives are searching for the driver of a white Subaru Outback after a young man was killed in a suspected hit-and-run in Sydney’s east.
Emergency services were called to Fletcher Street in Tamarama just after 4am on Sunday after a man, 28, was found critically injured in the road by a passer-by.
Police and paramedics performed CPR but were unable to revive the man and he died at the scene.
After spending Sunday scouring the area for evidence, police have released CCTV footage of a white Subaru Outback seen driving on Fletcher Street around the time of the crash.

Appearing at sunrise on Monday, NSW Police Inspector Jason Hogan urged the driver to come forward.
“It is a cowardly act to drive away after colliding with another human being,” he said.
‘They really need to go to their local police station before we knock on their door.’
Inspector Hogan would not confirm whether detectives believe the driver is local, but said police are currently following ‘all lines of enquiries’ about where the person may live.
As part of the investigation, Inspector Hogan said officers are canvassing local areas, businesses and transport companies for additional footage which may identify more leads.

The 28-year-old man, believed to be a local from the area, sustained critical injuries to his head and upper body.
Locals have reported hearing a car alarm go off and a loud bang around the time of the accident.
Detective Superintendent Adam Solah said officers had contacted the man’s family.
“The family are obviously very upset and distraught and our hearts go out to them as they have to deal with such difficult news,” he said.
Police are also appealing for witnesses or anyone with CCTV footage who can help to come forward.
The 28-year-old man is described as slim and Caucasian with brown hair. He was wearing a blue button-down shirt and tan shorts at the time of his death.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the website.
