A fearless adrenaline junkie is making waves in the snake-catching world by injecting a touch of glamor into the dangerous role.

Courtenay Brown, 38, is a newcomer to the snake-catching scene, but she’s already making a name for herself.

The intrepid ‘Snake Lady’, who works on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, says she is thriving thanks to the ‘fun and adrenaline’ of a male-dominated industry.

He said he got certified to relocate reptiles and handle venomous snakes because he wanted to do something he was passionate about now that his children are growing up.

The mother of two started her business, ‘That Snake Lady’, in mid-2023, but has many more years of experience handling reptiles.

And if I had a little advice for Australians who are unfortunate enough to find a snake on their property, it would be: “Don’t try to pick it up.”

“It’s a really fun thing to do and there aren’t many women who do it,” she told Daily Mail Australia.

“It’s definitely more male-dominated, so it’s nice that a woman is doing something different.”

The wildlife keeper said working with animals every day was an incredible experience.

“There’s a lot of adrenaline,” he explained.

‘Someone will call you and tell you there is a snake in the house or in the garden… and you have to be 100 per cent focused because animals are unpredictable.

“I find it exciting and fun, and it’s good to help people see that snakes aren’t necessarily evil or out to hurt you.”

Brown said he hoped to help re-educate locals.

“Snakes are quite misunderstood creatures, many people consider them aggressive when they are not,” he explained.

‘I would love to help educate people that they are defensive animals that would rather hide from you than harm you.

“There’s no real need to be afraid, if you leave the snakes alone and respect their space, they won’t bite you.”

“Don’t try to pick them up.”

“If you find a snake in the wild that is injured or in danger, please call me and I will be happy to take it to Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital for free,” he said.

“I love them very much and I really want to take care of them.”
