A man riding an electric scooter has died after colliding with a car.

Emergency services were called to St Albans, in Melbourne’s outer northwest, about 4.40pm on Thursday after reports of an accident.

The 45-year-old cyclist was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

“Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit have been told that a man was riding a scooter on Arthur Street when it appears he collided with a vehicle,” police said in a statement on Saturday.

‘The cyclist, a 45-year-old St Albans man, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

“The man died in hospital as a result of his injuries.”

Investigations are ongoing and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
