Queen Letizia looked elegant in cream for the opening of a new exhibition at Madrid’s Royal Palace marking 10 years since her husband, King Felipe VI, ascended the throne.
The Spanish royal family was welcomed by a crowd of tourists during the presentation of ‘Philip VI, a decade in the history of the Spanish Crown’, a series of family portraits.
The 56-year-old monarch ascended the Spanish throne on June 19, 2014, officially celebrating his tenth anniversary as King yesterday.
Felipe succeeded his father, King Emeritus Juan Carlos, who was head of state for 39 years before abdicating in 2014, when his popularity plummeted amid accusations of corruption and rumors of affairs.
Most recently, the King and Queen of Spain’s marriage was rocked when Queen Letizia faced unproven accusations of an affair with her former brother-in-law, Jaime del Burgo.

Queen Letiza is known to pair smart suits and jackets with more casual footwear for a modern take on power dressing.
For the big occasion at the Royal Palace, Queen Letizia, 51, wore a striking cream suit and relaxed white sneakers, mixing and matching formal and casual looks.
This is a recurring theme in Letizia’s recent sartorial choices, with the European royal recently opting for relaxed black sandals with her evening gown for a family night out at a concert to mark the 10th anniversary of King Philip’s proclamation.
To complement her elegant and casual look, Queen Letizia wore her brown hair down, grazing her shoulders with elegant subtle blow-dried makeup and discreet gold jewelry for an overall relaxed look.

The Queen of Europe seemed happy and relaxed after what has undoubtedly been a difficult time with new accusations of an affair by journalist Jaime Peñafiel.
It has been a week of celebrations for Queen Letizia and the rest of the Spanish royal family, who have attended events throughout the week to mark the tenth anniversary of King Felipe’s proclamation.
Last night, Queen Letizia stepped out with her husband and daughters, Crown Princess Leonor, 18, and Princess Sofia, 17, for Ara Malikian’s concert at the Royal Palace in Madrid on Wednesday night.

Last month, Spanish journalist Jaime Peñafiel, 91, published a damning new book about the European queen titled ‘The Silences of Letizia’, once again calling her reputation into question.
The book that follows his bestseller ‘Letizia & Yo’, in which for the first time he alleged that Letizia had an affair with her former brother-in-law Jamie del Burgo. In his new book, the royal alleges that Philip was ‘aware’ of his wife’s alleged infidelity ‘in real time’.
Peñafie also accuses Queen Letizia of being “cold, emotionally immature and passive aggressive” and makes unsubstantiated claims that King Felipe’s family “hates” her.
The author also claims that Felipe was “crushed and destroyed” by his wife’s alleged cheating and that his wife’s alleged “betrayal” means he now “wants out.”
Jaime Peñafiel was fired by Spanish newspaper El Mundo after 20 years earlier this year following the publication of the first book about the Queen called ‘Letizia & Yo’.
