Sony launches ‘Silent White’ WH-1000XM4 headphones because the black void of the room is too loud

Picture the scene. It’s summer, the lockdowns are diminishing and you are ready to go out into the world again. You feel brave after a year of being stuck indoors, brave enough that you picked out an all-white outfit. You can read how to make the color work in the Loves Fashion and GQ, but suddenly fate strikes. You notice something. The Verge’s best rated wireless headphones! “exclaim to no one in particular:” they are only available in black, blue, or this weird fool beige

It’s okay do not worry. Sony is releasing a limited edition of the WH-1000XM4 headphones in all white. In fact, it’s really white, not that orthopedic brown Sony has been trying to pass for “silver” all these years. Sony promises that these “Silent White” headphones will be “even more smudge-resistant,” hopefully keeping them looking pristine for a while. Unfortunately, they are limited edition and will only be available while supplies last.

Internally, these are the same as the excellent WH-1000XM4 headphones that the company released last year. That means you get excellent sound quality, noise cancellation and microphone performance, and the ability to pair with two devices at the same time.

The white headphones will be available in Europe from May for € 430 / £ 400, but the color will not show Sony’s US site at the moment of writing. We contacted the company to inquire about availability in the US.
