Hey Hey, it’s Saturday Daryl Somers to host Dancing With The Stars with Sonia Kruger – after Dr. Chris Brown ‘couldn’t play the part because of a miscalculation’
Daryl Somers has reportedly been confirmed as Sonia Kruger’s co-host of Channel Seven’s 20th season of Dancing With The Stars this year.
Dr. Chris Brown, who recently defected from Channel 10 to Seven, was previously rumored to be right for the role, but according to The Sunday Telegraph he missed by a ‘miscalculation’.
TV bosses were apparently “compelled to invite Somers” after misjudging Brown’s start date at Channel Seven, the publication alleges.
Chris, who is still under contract with rival Ten, will join Seven in July, which is too late for the show’s producers, BBC Studios, to start filming.
Hey Hey It’s Saturday veteran Somers, 71, is no stranger to the DWTS franchise, having previously co-hosted the show between 2004 and 2007, then again in 2021 alongside co-host Kruger.

Seven confirmed in the column that the new series would be ready in July of this year, but denied that they had planned for Chris Brown to co-host the show.
However, neither Somers nor Kruger have been officially announced as hosts of DWTS this year.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Seven for comment.

Seven announced in March that it would be reviving the popular reality TV show for its 20th season.
The league series is expected to be shown in the second quarter of the year.
It has also been confirmed that unlike the past two seasons, there will be no All-Stars format this time around.

Matt Forde, BBC Studios’ Managing Director of International Production and Formats, said this was a change from their previous partnership with Warner Bros., who also co-produced the show.
“When we started four years ago that was the go-to route for local broadcasters… but this run of the show will be produced entirely by BBC Studios ANZ,” he said.
