Size 24 woman sheds 12 STONE after a holiday snapshot & # 39; left her in tears & # 39; – and is now a fireman
A woman of size 24 who lost 12 stones after a deadly vacation snap & # 39; left her in tears & # 39; has revised her lifestyle to become a fireman.
Fran Drake, now 31, from Bournemouth, Dorset, turned to food for comfort and struggled with her size for much of her life – leaving cruel classmates to see her & # 39; Fat Fran & # 39; dubbed.
Over the years she tried a handful of diets, but when none of them kept the pound away, she surrendered as & # 39; a larger lady & # 39; eventually reaching 22 stones.
When everything changed as she flashed through photos of the trip of a lifetime to Walt Disney World, Florida, USA, with her husband Matt, 30, in April 2016, she was saved to tears to realize how heavy she was become.
Seeing this photo of herself on vacation in Florida gave Fran Drake, from Bournemouth, the shock she needed to review her diet and lifestyle
From there, Fran closed off her diet of pop cakes and cheese-laden pasta cakes, and soon the kilos began to melt away.
Now she has thrown a giant stone of 12 to a size of 10 stones eight – and has even fulfilled her ambition to become a firefighter in training.
She said: “I convinced myself before I left for Florida that I had lost enough weight to look good on vacation, while in reality I lost a few pounds and was still heavily overweight.
& # 39; Now I am healthier than ever, I am finally training with the fire department and doing something meaningful for the first time with my life in what feels forever. & # 39;

Fran never thought she would fulfill her childhood dream of becoming a fireman because of her weight. Shown in her uniform
Since her childhood, Fran, who married carpenter Matt in Kingston Maurward, an 18th-century mansion in Dorchester, Dorset, on May 1, 2017, has fought her weight.
She was ruthlessly teased at school, leaving her faith in pieces.
& # 39; Children have the talent to sniff at your biggest uncertainty and make you feel 10 times worse about it, & # 39; she remembered.
& # 39; Unfortunately my weakness wasn't that hard to recognize – my weight – and from the age of 11 I became & # 39; Fat Fran & # 39; or & # 39; Called Fatty-esca & # 39;
Since her childhood, Fran has been fighting with her weight, with cruel bullies at school that her & # 39; Fat Fran & # 39; called
After leaving school and getting a job at the NHS patient service, Fran got into a yo-yo diet cycle
& # 39; I grew up in a household where, if something went wrong, you would cheer yourself up with something cordial and filling, and so I became trapped in a vicious circle. & # 39;
After leaving school and getting a job at the NHS patient service, Fran got into a yo-yo diet cycle.
Over the years, she tried every regime under the sun, from the 5: 2 diet, fasting two days a week, to the cabbage soup diet.
But when nothing worked, she decided to change her way of thinking and accept her body instead.
Fran started dating Matt (photo right) in 2011 on size 18, and started eating more after having a happy relationship
& # 39; If I could not physically change myself, I would change myself mentally & # 39 ;, said Fran.
& # 39; Just because you are not a size 8 does not mean that you cannot be happy in yourself. & # 39;
Embracing her fuller figure paid off, while Fran saw her confidence grow. And in 2011 – then a size 18 – she started dating Matt after they were talking at a Christmas party.
& # 39; Packing myself like a fit man reinforced the idea that I could be happy in my skin without losing weight, & # 39; she said.
& # 39; I never had self-confidence when it came to dating before I met Matt. I always ended up with men who didn't appreciate me and I thought that I didn't earn better because of my weight.
Fran revealed that people would whisper during evenings that she beat & # 39; because Matt & # 39; better in shape & # 39; than she was
& # 39; But the problem was that after entering into a happy relationship and more self-confidence I started to eat more and more. & # 39;
Although her relationship with Matt was great, Fran saw her diet go from bad to worse and on a normal day, she would eat 3,500 calories a day – almost double the NHS recommended daily allowance for women of 2,000 cals.
Fran revised her diet and started exercising
She spoke about Matt's naturally athletic construction and said: & # 39; On evenings people would whisper: & # 39; She beats & # 39; – as if I didn't know he was in much better shape than me. & # 39;
By 2016, Fran noticed that she was printing in size 24 and tilted the scale on 22 stone.
In April, she and Matt booked to go to Walt Disney World, and although she still felt fairly confident, she decided to go on a diet again before the trip.
& # 39; I was still a big part of thinking that I was happy with what I looked like, but I wanted to be a bit of a trimmer for Florida, & # 39; she remembered.
# I gave the 5: 2 diet another swirl and was delighted to lose a few extra pounds. I managed to drop a dress to a 22, and I was actually very happy.
& # 39; Florida was great too – the trip of a lifetime. & # 39;
But Fran's dream vacation soon became a nightmare when she decided to go back in the UK to browse the photos she'd taken and was shocked at how she looked.
& # 39; I don't know what it was with that specific set of photos, but it dawned on me that if I didn't change now, my weight would kill me & # 39 ;, she said.
& # 39; It finally struck me and I decided to review my lifestyle there and there. & # 39;
Fran went to work and also started going to the gym three times a week, where she regularly attended personal training
To boost her training, Fran increased her protein intake with the Bio-synergy supplement brand
Fran joined her local slimming group in April 2016 and exchanged the junk food where she lived for fresh home-cooked meals, vegetarian stews, and fruit salads.
She lost more than six stones in a year and was able to fit into a slender corset in size 12 by the time her wedding day took place in May 2017.
She remembered her special day and said: Looking back, I can't imagine what I'd look like when I walked down the aisle in a size 22 wedding dress.

& # 39; I can look back on my wedding anniversary photos & smile at happy memories without self-hatred. & # 39;

Able to do things she had never thought possible, from training at the gym to walking in the countryside with Matt, Fran saw that she wanted to use her new fitness.
& # 39; I had always admired firefighters, and when I was growing up, I thought it would be a bait to work as one, but because of my weight, the idea soon fell off my radar, & # 39; she said.
& # 39; But after the weight started to decrease, I decided to make that my goal – to become a trained firefighter. & # 39;

Fran says that her debilitating weight loss journey has been worth it all and that she is excited to work as a fireman
After a lengthy eight-week training, Fran discovered that she had passed the fire brigade test in Dorset and Wiltshire in May of this year and will be working the next two years to become a full-fledged firefighter.
She said: & # 39; It was pretty intense to get that far. I had to tow equipment weighing up to 40 kg and participated in a beep test – something that I thought I had left in my school days.
& # 39; It has all been worth it, and I feel that after almost 20 years of being nothing more than the fat girl, I will finally give something back to the community and at the same time stay fit. & # 39;
