Size 20 woman whose ex said she’d ‘never be thin’ drops seven sizes

A woman has dropped seven dress sizes and proved doubters wrong after her boyfriend told her she would ‘never be thin’.

Helena Hara, 27, from The Wirral, Merseyside, claims her ex told her she would never lose weight, but after seven years, she decided it was time to change.

Helena, then 21, fell at 14 and wore size 20 clothes. She ate take-out meals up to four times a week and snacked on chips and chocolate.

She said: “I realized I was in a toxic environment, I looked at a photo of a woman’s body on Instagram, and [my ex] told me I would never be thin and it would just never happen.

After leaving the “toxic environment” of her relationship, Helena overhauled her diet, dropping takeout meals and replacing them with meals high in protein and fiber.

“At this point I had just started taking my social media profiles seriously and started to gain a lot of followers, it was around this time I started to lose weight but I felt like he didn’t want me to have one lose weight.

“It got pretty negative, he wasn’t happy and he became a hindrance to me. I just had to get out of the relationship.

“I feel like when you’re in a negative situation, you become a negative person, and because I was unhappy, I switched to eating and emotional eating.

“It was my consolation, and since I couldn’t do much, I turned to that.”

After dumping her ex, Helena also threw out unhealthy food and said she changed her life.

Helena swapped pastries, pizza, and chips for fish, protein shakes, and fruit and noticed the weight fell off her.

While she adjusted her diet, she went to the gym almost every day to get active.

Helena, who now works as a fitness influencer, is a size six and says she’s happier than ever.

Currently single, she says she works to maintain a healthy mindset and positive attitude while helping other women struggling with body image through her social media presence.

“Now I go to the gym five to six times a week, count my calories and macros, and live a much more positive and healthy life,” Helena said.

“Even my family has noticed such a change in me in an emotional way because I am so much more positive about life compared to how negative I used to be.

“I did this for myself, after being told I would never get thin, I made the gym a big part of my life and changed my eating habits.

“I lost all confidence and leaving him has helped me get my life back on track.”

‘I would like to help people who want to improve their lives and lose weight.

‘I want to help them with fitness and eating habits, I resonate with that very much, it is close to my heart.

“I’ve always struggled with food relationships, I still use it for comfort now, but I have much better control over what I eat and eat it in moderation.” I still eat chocolate almost every day.

“It’s not like it used to be, but I don’t limit myself. I just try to eat much cleaner.

‘I give myself 2,300 calories a day, which is appropriate for building muscle while maintaining a lean body. I just feel like I’ve breathed new life into it.’
