An Australian mom has revealed that you can ripen a foil avocado in just ten minutes
She avoided calamity by using her hot air fryer to ripen the hard fruit.
First she covered it with foil and set her air fryer to 200 ° C, then she put the avocado in it for ten minutes.
When it came out, it was easy to mash.
“It changes the flavor and texture a bit and I would recommend letting it chill in the fridge, but it works,” she said.
And while she admits she’d rather use a ripe avocado, she said the trick works “ in a pinch. ”

HOW CAN I RIPE MY AVOCADO?
There are a few ways to ripen avocados, depending on how much time you have.
1 – Wrap in foil and put in a hot air fryer at 200C for 10 minutes.
2 – Microwave on high for 10 to 20 seconds.
3 – Put in a container with a banana – this will allow it to ripen within two days.
Hundreds of home cooks loved the simple hack that could ultimately ‘save the day’ if dinner is being prepared and a ripe avocado cannot be found.
“We’ve been through the same situation, thank you very much for this,” said a home cook.
“This is great information, thank you very much,” said another.
Others said bananas can be ripened in the same way.
Others had questions about what the fruit looked like when it came out of the foil, but the woman who posted the trick assured them that it was still green on the inside.
Some do the same with a microwave.
“Don’t use foil and put it on for between 10 and 30 seconds,” one person said.
HOW CAN I KEEP MY AVOCADO FRESH?
Submerging half-cut avocados in cold water will keep the fruit fresh and prevent the skin from tanning, a video on TikTok claims.
Avocados turn brown quickly after being cut open due to an enzyme called polyphenol oxidase that is found under the skin.
Once cut, the enzyme reacts with oxygen in the air, turning the surface dark brown.
Cold water prevents oxygen from entering the skin and reacting with the enzyme, preserving the pale green color.
Chefs have been using the trick for years to keep half-cut avocados in water baths until needed.
But it seems many outside of the hospitality industry didn’t know until the video was shared on July 4, with thousands of nearly 900,000 viewers thanking the poster for showing them how to get more value from the popular ‘millennial’ fruit .
