Simone Biles heads to her third Olympic Games, after withdrawing from Tokyo due to her health

Simone Biles is heading to her third Olympic Games and this time she will have her husband Jonathan Owens by her side.

The 27-year-old gymnast, who is the most decorated gymnast in history, secured her spot on the US team heading into the 2024 Paris Olympics over the weekend.

Owens was on hand to support his wife, a four-time Olympic gold medalist, as she led the standing ovation after her floor routine.

“We’re going to Paris. I’m so proud,” the Chicago Bears safety wrote on Instagram Sunday, after television cameras showed him jumping to his feet and cheering on the famous athlete at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

Biles earned a total score of 117.225 ahead of Sunisa Lee and Jordan Chiles, who finished second and third, respectively.

Jade Carey and Hezly Rivera completed the top five, while Joscelyn Roberson and Leanne Wong will also join the team as roving replacement athletes.

During the 2021 Tokyo Games, Biles withdrew from the all-around final to focus on her mental health, opting to see a therapist weekly.

“I knew I wasn’t done after the performances in Tokyo,” Biles told NBC.

“So just getting back in the gym and working hard and trusting the process… I knew I would be back,” he added.

Owens was full of praise for his wife, whom he married in 2023, in a sweet Instagram story.

The gymnast will also have star Taylor Swift cheering her on.

The pop megastar was stunned when Biles used her song ‘Ready For It’ during her floor routine.

Responding to the footage shared by NBC Olympics’ X account, Swift wrote: “I’ve watched it so many times and I’m still not ready. But she’s ready for it.”

She and Owens, who began dating at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, tied the knot over a year ago in 2023.

‘Yes. “Owens officially,” Biles captioned a series of photos at the time,

‘This is your sign to marry your best friend.’

Her boyfriend echoed the sentiment, adding: “My person, forever.”
