  • The Chicago Bears have selected Caleb Williams No. 1 overall to begin the 2024 NFL Draft.

Williams has long been labeled the best quarterback in his class since winning the Heisman Trophy in 2022.

The Bears passed on 2021 first-round pick Justin Fields to make room for Williams, and traded him to the Pittsburgh Steelers last month for a 2025 sixth-round pick.

After Chicago traded Fields, the union between Williams and the Bears was all but official, and Thursday night silenced any doubts about a red pick.

When asked what his first goal would be as Bears quarterback, Williams told ESPN: “Learn all my teammates’ names.”

Williams arrived at the draft in Detroit with his mother, Dayna Price, and a mystery woman. He was previously rumored to be dating Valery Orellana.

Williams began his college career at Oklahoma as a backup behind fellow 2024 draft-eligible quarterback Spencer Rattler.

After Lincoln Riley left the Sooners to join USC, Williams followed him to the Pac-12 Conference.

In his first year as a Trojan, Williams won the Heisman Trophy with 52 combined touchdowns and only five interceptions.

In 2023, despite a demotion in his supporting cast, Williams still had 41 total touchdowns. He was not a finalist for the Heisman Trophy last year.

Chicago will again be available for the No. 9 pick, where it will target either a defensive player or a receiver for Williams.

The team already acquired Keenan Allen this offseason, who will likely be the team’s best wide receiver.

The Bears won seven of their final 13 games of the season after losing the first four, extending the team’s losing streak to 14 games.

Now, the most important piece of Chicago’s rebuild appears to be in place.
