According to an article in Forbes magazine, Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani is being forced to sell his $8 million mansion in California due to privacy concerns. Yahoo Japan.
The two-way star purchased the luxury mansion in La Cañada Flintridge, California, in May for an estimated $7.85 million (1.2 billion yen) and, according to Yahoo!, has yet to move into the home.
A translated version of the Yahoo article reports: ‘Ohtani said he could no longer live in the 1.2 billion yen mansion he had purchased and indicated his intention to sell it without moving into his new home.’
Several media outlets have helped fans track down the exact location of the house. On separate occasions, Japanese networks Fuji TV and Nippon TV sent crews to the house, where journalists took photographs, filmed and interviewed neighbors, according to Yahoo! While neither of them reported the specific address of the house, both networks are accused of effectively revealing its location through their respective reports.
Fuji TV has since issued an apology, but Nippon TV has not.

The house reportedly belonged to comedian Adam Carolla.
Ohtani bought the home after the busiest offseason of his life.
Not only did he leave the Los Angeles Angels to sign a long-delayed 10-year, $700 million contract with the Dodgers, but the 30-year-old also married his girlfriend, Japanese basketball player Mamiko Tanaka.
Unsurprisingly, the La Cañada mansion reportedly has a basketball hoop.
On Thursday, Ohtani was named MLB’s top player for the fourth consecutive year at ESPN’s ESPY Awards.
Though off-season elbow surgery has prevented him from pitching in 2024, the two-way sensation has continued to hit for the Dodgers and currently ranks second in the majors in home runs (28) and on-base-plus-slugging percentage (1.026).
On the year, Ohtani is hitting .314 and helping guide the Dodgers to a 55-39 record, better than every MLB team except the Philadelphia Phillies.
