Sitting at the back of the courtroom, Lynn, neatly dressed in a suit and glasses, listened attentively as the jury of eight men and six women were asked to go home.

On Thursday he appeared before them and formally pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder.

The trial before Judge Michael Croucher is expected to last up to six weeks when it finally resumes.

This jury was told that about 100 witnesses would be called to testify.

Among them will be Lynn’s wife, Melanie, relatives of the deceased, scientists, campmates and police officers.

At its conclusion, jurors will have the option of returning a guilty verdict or the alternative charge of involuntary manslaughter.
