Two brothers face assault charges after they attacked two police officers inside an Avianca plane in Colombia.
The suspects, whose names have been withheld by the Colombian National Police as part of the investigation, attacked officer Carlos Quiñones after they were asked to get off the Avianca plane due to their unruly behavior last Thursday night at the El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá.
In the viral video you can see one of the men arguing with Quiñones and telling him ‘We are not going to leave’ and referring directions based on skin color.
His brother places his hand on Quiñones’ chest and tells him: ‘Don’t mistreat him,’ before the alleged drunk brothers take things to another level.
The man then steps forward and slaps Quiñones before his partner steps forward, restrains the attacker and escorts him off the plane.

He then leaves his seat and walks quickly down the aisle and catches up with the police officer before he too is forced off the plane.
“The Police reject this type of incident in which two police officers are physically and verbally attacked inside an aircraft at the El Dorado airport,” said Lieutenant Colonel Wilson Torres, who supervises the airport police station.
“The National Police calls on passengers to disembark from the aircraft, as established by Colombian aeronautical regulations,” Torres added. “They become aggressive towards the Police, attacking them physically and verbally, so the police proceed to prosecute them for the crime of violence against a public servant.”
Both men were arrested on charges of assaulting a public servant, but a judge granted them freedom, accusing them of intentional personal injury.
The charge of assaulting a public servant carries a sentence of four to eight years in prison.

The incident follows the December 2023 incident involving a Polish man who was removed from a Spirit Airlines flight at Ernesto Cortissoz International Airport in Barranquilla bound for Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Police footage showed the passenger, who was allegedly drunk, arguing with other customers and shouting: ‘Fuck you, bitch’ at another passenger while being escorted by a stewardess and two police officers.
He dropped another F-bomb and stopped in the middle of the plane to berate another passenger, telling him, “You wish you were in America.”
One of the police officers subsequently pushed him forward before he punched the officer and repeatedly told him: “I hate you.”
