A ruckus broke out ahead of the Wests Tigers’ clash against the Brisbane Broncos in Sydney, with around 20 people involved in a melee in the stands.

Video footage showed a man in a coal-black T-shirt allegedly headbutting a security guard wearing high-visibility clothing before being taken to the ground.

Bystanders were heard gasping in disbelief after the alleged attacker appeared to be angry at another fan. He reacted violently when confronted by the security guard.

A woman was heard shouting: ‘What the hell?’, while a police officer was present at the scene and was soon joined by another officer.

He was then thrown to the ground and chaos ensued.
