The AFL star brother of Matlidas captain Sam Kerr has pleaded guilty to “persistently engaging in family violence” as his sister faces a charge of racially harassing a police officer on the other side of the world.

Daniel Kerr, who won a premiership with the West Coast Eagles, was due to face trial on five charges in May but pleaded guilty to one offense in Perth District Court on Monday.

Three charges of endangering “the life, health or safety of any person” and one of deprivation of liberty were dropped.

But he admitted a charge of domestic violence against his ex-partner and mother of his children over a period of eight years.

Kerr was fined $5,000 in September 2020 at Fremantle Magistrates Court for breaching a family violence and aggravated stalking restraining order, in which she pleaded guilty to bombarding her ex with 135 text messages.

The ordeal left her feeling “seriously intimidated”, a court heard.

Kerr is due to appear again in District Court on April 5, when his sentence will be mentioned.

Daniel Kerr admitted this during a hearing in the WA District Court on Monday.

He also received a two-year prison sentence for setting fire to his parents’ house in February 2021.

He was seen walking away from the property shouting and waving his arms, before concerned neighbors alerted emergency services after seeing smoke coming from the house.

He was arrested at a car wash business he owned in Cottesloe.

Daniel’s latest court hearing comes a week after Sam’s virtual appearance at London’s Kingston Crown Court, where a four-day trial date was set after she allegedly racially abused a police officer.

Kerr, 30, was charged last Monday with racially aggravated harassment of a police officer and pleaded not guilty, with a four-day trial scheduled for February 2025 at Kingston Crown Court.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed that the incident, which took place on January 30, 2023, was sparked by a dispute over a taxi fare before Kerr allegedly used insulting, threatening or abusive words which caused PC alarm or distress. Lovell.

Kerr allegedly called the officer “a stupid white cop” after a drunken night out in Twickenham, south-west London, in January 2023. He also allegedly vomited in a taxi.

He also allegedly vomited in the taxi.

She has pleaded not guilty and could face a maximum prison sentence of two years if convicted in February 2025.

His legal team will return to court in April and hopes to have the case dismissed.

Kerr has been charged with intentionally causing racially aggravated harassment, alarm or distress to the male PC under section 31(1)(b) of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.

Kerr was summoned by postal requisition to appear for the first time at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on February 1. The case was then referred to Kingston Crown Court.

He was wearing a white T-shirt under a black suit jacket when he appeared via video link, speaking only to confirm his identity and plead not guilty to the charge.

Kerr was told she was required to attend a four-day trial, scheduled for next February, during which two police officers are expected to testify.

A hearing is scheduled for April 26 at which his defense is expected to try to dismiss the case, alleging abuse of process.

Judge Judith Elaine Coello said she understood Kerr’s defense would be that he did not intend to cause alarm, harassment or distress to the police officer and that his insult was not racially motivated.
