Shirtless man on dimly lit Brisbane road jumps onto car bonnet and through windshield

A woman driving home at night had a disturbing encounter with a man who jumped on her hood and smashed her windshield with his fists as she returned from work.

It happened around 7.30pm on Saturday in a southeast Brisbane suburb, 9News reports.

The woman turned onto Freeth St West in Ormiston when a man jumped in front of her car.

The driver, who asked to remain anonymous, said she saw a man and a woman walking down the street and they appeared to be arguing.

He slowed down and tried to avoid them, but the man got in his way.

He jumped on its hood and “hit the windshield several times.”

“It happened so fast it was a shock,” he said.

The woman said the man also tried to get into her car through the passenger door, but it was locked.

“I couldn’t accelerate because the woman was behind the car and if I had reversed I could have hit her,” he said.

‘I couldn’t move forward because the car detected a person ahead and stopped.

“I couldn’t move the vehicle forward until he jumped off the hood, that’s when I took off.”

The driver immediately went to the Cleveland police station, with a ‘shattered’ windshield that fell on her and cut her hands.

“I couldn’t see anything in front of me, I really don’t know how I got home that night,” he said.

Queensland Police are investigating the incident.
