Sources close to the award-winning actress, 42, told MailOnline there have been “no talks” about a sensational return to the much-loved BBC comedy, which James, 45, and co-writer Ruth Jones, 57, They confirmed last week. Come back for one last installment on Christmas Day.
Sheridan played Ruth ‘Rudi’ Smith, known for her tumultuous relationship with James’ character Smithy, as well as her improvised raps, and is a cult favorite among fans.
But just like the 2019 Christmas special, when Nessa, played by co-creator Ruth, proposed to Smithy, it looks like Sheridan will once again not appear alongside co-stars such as Mat Horne, 45, and Joanna Page. of 47, so it is likely to be the comedy’s farewell.

A source said: “Sheridan is highly unlikely to appear in the Gavin and Stacey final. No-one has contacted her about reprising her role and she has other big opportunities in the pipeline.
“Sheridan has great respect for everyone involved in Gavin and Stacey and loved his time on the sitcom, it was a fun time in his life.”
The actress dated James for two years between 2007 and 2009 and the pair are believed to get along well.
The pair attended The Variety Club Showbusiness Awards in late April, where James received the award for outstanding global achievement in broadcasting, acting and comedy.

Fans will finally find out whether or not Smithy and Nessa end up together and potentially find out what happened on that famous fishing trip.
