The Senegalese Ministry of Health said that a case of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever has been detected. The ministry confirmed that the case is in a hospital in a city near the capital, Dakar.

According to the World Health Organization, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever is the most prevalent tick-borne viral disease in humans. It is transmitted between humans through direct contact with an infected person’s blood or other bodily fluids. The death rate from the disease ranges from ten to forty percent.
Symptoms appear on the patient represented by fever, feeling of nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Some symptoms also appear suddenly, such as muscle pain, dizziness, dome and back pain, and sensitivity to light.
