A seaplane crashed near a popular tourist island shortly after takeoff.
The plane crashed into the water on Rottnest Island, near Thompson Bay, Western Australia, about 4pm on Tuesday.
Emergency services, including water police and two RAC rescue helicopters, are at the scene.
It is understood that there are six people on board the plane, the Western Australia information.
Three people, including two women in their 40s, suffered serious injuries.
“Water police and several civilian boats are on scene attempting to assist in the rescue,” WA Police said in a statement.
Rottnest Island, also known as Wadjemup, is located 20 kilometers off the coast of Perth.
It is a popular holiday spot in the summer months attracting thousands of visitors.
