Sean O’Malley delivers 25-minute masterclass to dominate Marlon Vera at UFC 299 in Miami and defend bantamweight title, after Dustin Poirier’s incredible KO win over Benoit Saint Denis

Sean ‘Suga’ O’Malley successfully defended his bantamweight title in the main event of UFC 299 after outpointing his old rival Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera in Miami.

Chito had handed O’Malley his first and only MMA loss in 2020, but a repeat never looked likely as he put on a dominant display at the Kaseya Centre.

The American brutally hit his challenger with a knee in the second round, and Chito somehow withstood the blow to stay in the contest.

Chito produced his best shot of the night in the final seconds of the fifth round, but it proved too late as O’Malley put on a complete performance throughout the 25-minute contest.

O’Malley won unanimously with two cards giving the American a 50-45 margin, and the other reading 50-44 in his favor.

The 29-year-old’s win came after Dustin Poirier scored an incredible knockout victory over Benoit Saint Denis.
