Scottie Scheffler to miss PGA Tour's season-opening tournament, The Sentry, with hand injury

Scottie Scheffler will miss the opening tournament of the 2025 PGA Tour season, The Sentry in Maui, after suffering a puncture wound to his right hand from broken glass on Christmas Day. The injury will keep him out of action for three or four weeks.

Scheffler’s agent, Blake Smith, broke the news in a statement issued via PGA Tour.

“On Christmas Day, while preparing dinner, Scottie suffered a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand from broken glass,” the statement said. “Small shards of glass were left in the palm of his hand, requiring surgery. He has been told he should be back to 100% in three to four weeks. Unfortunately, he will have to withdraw from The Sentry. His next scheduled tournament is The American Express “
