Dannii Minogue has revealed how important it has been for her to star in a gay dating series.
The singer, who leads I Kissed A Boy and the spin-off I Kissed A Girl, saysStellar Magazine that she has seen firsthand the impact the program has.
“I have been getting calls and messages from friends of mine regarding stories and conversations,” the 53-year-old said.
‘I’ve had a lifetime of incredible friendships with people in the LGBTQIA+ community and have been able to be an ally both personally and professionally, and I hope that with greater representation on television, life will be easier for the next generation.
“Both my friends and our cast tell me the same thing after watching the show: ‘My life would have been so different if I had a TV show like this when I was a kid.’
Earlier this year, the star choked back tears of pride as he launched gay dating show I Kissed A Girl and said he “identifies as queer.”

I Kissed A Girl, which returns to screens in May, sees ten single women living together in a luxurious Italian house in the hope of striking up a romance.
The 10-episode series follows the gay male version of the show I Kissed A Boy last May and Dannii expressed how “surreal” there hasn’t been a show for lesbian and bisexual women until now.
Speaking at the launch of the series, she said: “This is so important. There hasn’t been a show for girls in the gay dating world. It’s like we need this to happen. I hope there are matches all over the country.”
The presenter also revealed that she herself identifies as queer after the girls of the series made it clear that they like the Australian in the first episode.
She stated, “I identify as queer in a weird way.”
When one contestant, Amy from Surrey, commented that Dannii is “just my type,” Danni was asked if she was too attracted to women.
Laughing in the episode, Dannii responded: ‘You girls are hot. You know it. I love it. I’m here for it. Is that an answer?
Dannii, who previously revealed she lost a handful of fans after she started hosting I Kissed A Boy, said she would love to see the series win more awards.
The singer, who fronts I Kissed A Boy and spin-off I Kissed A Girl, tells Stellar Magazine that she has personally seen the impact the show has.
“I have been getting calls and messages from friends of mine regarding stories and conversations,” the 53-year-old said.
‘I want this to go well, obviously. Everyone has put everything on the line. I hope there are more series of this program and that more girls have the opportunity to have this experience.”
Fighting back tears, she added: “You girls are so brave and amazing and have contributed so much.” I could never do what you have done.
‘I will always be amazed by what has happened and what we have created. I feel very proud. “You are taking a step forward and you are the first group of girls represented in this space, and it is big.”
Dannii and her sister Kylie Minogue are two of Australia’s most iconic pop stars and share similar career paths.
The pair got their start on a long-running Australian soap opera, Kylie on Neighbors and Dannii on Home and Away, and then launched a music career, selling millions of albums in the process.
The sisters have always enjoyed a close relationship, and Dannii revealed that she always looked to Kylie for guidance during a 2017 interview with 9Honey.
“My sister has always been amazing,” Dannii told the publication at the time.
“She is always a tower of strength and has so much class in the way she handles everything.
‘My sister is the one I turn to for advice. And whenever I look at her, physically she’s a tiny little thing, and you just think, ‘Where does all this strength come from?’
Dannii welcomed her son Ethan, now 13, with former rugby league player Kris Smith in 2010.
The couple dates from 2008 to 2012. after meeting in Ibiza while celebrating his 30th birthday.
The singer and her current boyfriend Adrian Newman keep their romance a secret and rarely speak publicly about each other.
Earlier this year, Dannii gave rare insight into their low-key romance and opened up about the prospect of marriage.
Of keeping their relationship out of the spotlight, she told Hello: “I haven’t always been able to do it that way because if the other person is already famous, what can you do?” He works behind the scenes, so it’s easy.”
