The mother of a 10-year-old girl with a hidden illness has called a stranger who shouted at her daughter for being in a stroller with special needs at a family event.

Parents Sarah and Peter Scott were having a family day at the Royal Adelaide Show with their three children: Hannah, 10, Cooper, 12 and Abby, 17, on Monday.

As the family of five made its way through the crowd, a woman passed by her before turning to attack Hannah, shouting, "A 10-year-old boy in a stroller."

Hannah has a serious autoimmune disease and heart problems, so she is often limited to a stroller when she can not walk because muscle spasms cause severe pain in her knees.

But after the unpleasant comment, Mrs. Scott said that her devastated daughter was too embarrassed to get back to her stroller, so she chose to walk through the crowd with unbearable pain for the next hour.

"Honestly, I felt bad," the 40-year-old mother told Daily Mail Australia.

"Hannah is a sensitive girl who feels her differences with enthusiasm, we work so hard to give her normal day-to-day things and taking her to the crowds is a big business, especially with a suppressed immune system at this time of year.

"She loves the show, and that's why we went in. It's also difficult for my older children who have to deal with looks and looks and their own shame."

After the meeting, the mother explained that she tried to confront the stranger, but that the area was too full of revelers, that she could not go after her.

After the traumatic experience, the mother took Facebook to write an open letter to the woman who "terrorized and devastated" her daughter.

"For the woman in the crowd … who was frustrated because she could not move as fast as she wanted, she screamed in my daughter's face that" she was fucking a 10-year-old boy in a stroller, "she said.

"Who made her think that she could not sit down in that chair again, so she walked sore for an hour completely humiliated until I forced her to come back in."

"I understand that you do not have special needs equipment education, but maybe if you see a clearly older child in a stroller the next time you will think and show empathy instead of poison, I wish I could have taken you in. You're lucky not to.

Mrs. Scott said that the family's night was interrupted after the comment left her daughter for fear the woman would yell at her again.

"We cut the night early, we did not stay for the fireworks that she wanted to see because she was afraid that he would see her in a corner and shout again," he said.

And yes, we spoiled it. A new onesie, squishies, exhibition bag and an incredible henna from my generous and incredibly talented friend Linda.

"But it made the biggest impression on him, in his words" you were the first person who was ever bad with me for being a boy in love ".

& # 39; No more words. & # 39;

Ms. Scott said her daughter has been living with a hidden disease after she was born with a rare heart condition called tetralogy of Fallot, a combination of four heart defects that are present at birth.

"When you look at Hannah, you can not see her diseases clearly," she explained.

"You can not see the heart condition, the autoimmune disease, the full medication, the terrible muscle spasms that can bring her to her knees, the exhaustion of carrying all this in such a small body, especially after a day of school.

"You do not see the diagnosis of complex trauma that makes being around many people overwhelming, especially when mixed with a lot of noise.

"But you can see this stroller, learn how it looks and respect it like a wheelchair should, sometimes they can be more difficult to move in a small space, knowing how to use it is not always a choice.

By sharing a photograph of the stroller with special needs, Mrs. Scott wanted to show everyone the special needs chair designed for older children.

& # 39; This is a special needs cart. They are designed to help children who are older than standard strollers to stock up, "he said.

"We have one of these in place of a wheelchair for Hannah because we have not made the change yet, it's not necessary more than a handful of times a year and only if we're going to be in crowds for longer periods of time. Let our next heart surgery come before we need it more often. "
