Samantha Armytage has shared images of material removed from her body during hip replacement surgery.

The Farmer Wants A Wife host, 47, took to Instagram on Thursday morning to share a photo of a piece of cartilage removed from her hip joint.

“Do you want to see something disgusting about my recent surgery?” she asked her 257,000 followers, before warning those who don’t want to watch the disgusting video.

On the next slide, Armytage presented the three-centimeter piece that looked like a piece of popcorn.

“Haha. I knew everyone would be staring at it,” he continued. “It’s a 3cm chunk of rock-like cartilage that’s been floating around inside my hip joint for decades.”

Armytage added: “As my surgeon said, ‘You must have been in a lot of pain!’ And you were.”

Earlier this week, Armytage shared post-surgery photos of herself at St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Sydney.

Along with photos of herself on crutches, she detailed her recovery and gave fans an insight into the main procedure.

In a lengthy caption, Armytage explained that he has long suffered from osteoarthritis in his right hip after tearing the cartilage, the fibrous material that prevents bones from rubbing against each other.

“Hip, hip, hooray! New hip, new me, no problem. I had a total hip replacement a few weeks ago,” she wrote.

‘After a very active, outdoor childhood (and a skiing accident 30 years ago), I tore all the cartilage in my right hip.

“It was a bone crash and then it developed into severe osteoarthritis. I am very proud of how strong my body is and how well I have recovered.

‘I am now truly bionic… and my loved ones are glad they will never have to see me limp in pain again.

‘A huge thank you to the wonderful nurses at @stvincentshospitalsydney for the care, a bit of Endone (pic 5), lots of rehab and to all my beautiful friends for my flower filled room!.. xx

‘*Fun fact: 54,000 hip replacements are performed in Australia every year, but I have to say my surgeon, Dr Michael Solomon, is THE best.’

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease in which joint tissues deteriorate over time and is more common in older people.

The former Sunrise star explained that she underwent a hip replacement to treat the condition and assured fans that she is doing well amid her recovery.

Recovery from hip replacements can be slow and require specialized physical therapy.
