Max Gawn says he has apologized to Christian Petracca after being harsh to him while he suffered terrifying injuries.
Melbourne star Petracca is currently isolating and recovering at home after suffering a grade 5 spleen laceration and other horrific internal injuries during the King’s Birthday crash last week.
The midfielder continued to play despite suffering injuries in the first quarter, and reports suggest his family is unhappy with the way the football club handled the situation.
Petracca originally took responsibility for continuing to play, but later deleted his social media post making the revelation.
His decision to personally announce that his season was over also raised eyebrows, with clubs often taking the step to officially confirm the news.

The Melbourne superstar was hospitalized with internal injuries sustained last week.
And speaking on Triple M’s Marty Sheargold show, Gawn says he approached Petracca after spraying him during the loss.
“He actually came out in the second quarter and didn’t give the best effort I’ve ever seen (from) Trac (Petracca)…,” Gawn began.
And I went and talked to him… and now I have real egg on my face. She was out there dying.
Gawn says he was embarrassed by his comments, in retrospect.
I was telling him to get up! “I have since apologized to him,” she said.
‘To be fair, I have seen people with a broken rib and they are in a lot of pain. I guess it was very difficult to diagnose that it was a genuine internal injury like that.
‘No one can see it (at the moment due to infection concerns).
‘He’s doing well. No one is allowed to see him because of his immune system, related to his spleen.
‘All I know is that we won’t have it for long.
Gawn said he gave Petracca a spray, not realizing the pain he was in.
“I dare say that if we are in the final, I’m talking about the preliminaries or the grand final, it will be difficult to say that he cannot play.”
Reports claim Melbourne football coach Alan Richardson attempted to see Petracca in hospital the first night he was admitted but was denied entry to the patient’s room.
“Obviously, Christian’s health is the number one priority for us right now,” Richardson said.
“The next few weeks will be crucial and we will closely monitor his progress to ensure he makes a proper and full recovery.
“He is obviously an extremely important player for the team, but his health and recovery are our top priorities at the moment.”
