Sam Armytage has recovered after a recent hip replacement operation.

On Thursday, the 47-year-old updated her fans on social media with a racy post that showed the Farmer Wants a Wife star getting ready to go for a spin in her car.

“I’m off opioids and back in the driver’s seat, both metaphorically and literally,” Sam wrote in the selfie caption.

The former Sunrise presenter smiled behind the wheel of her car as she covered her eyes with dark sunglasses.

She also informed her fans on her Instagram story that: ‘The car was off for this photo.’

Sam also explained that he was receiving post-operative rehabilitation classes.

In the accompanying photo, which was taken several weeks ago, the former Sunrise presenter captured herself on a pair of crutches.

Sam also used the resource to thank his friends and supporters for supporting Farmer Wants a Wife at this year’s Logies.

In a lengthy caption, Samantha explained that she has been suffering from osteoarthritis after tearing the cartilage in her right hip.

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease in which joint tissues deteriorate over time and is more common in older people.

She explained that she underwent a hip replacement to treat the condition and assured fans that she is doing well amid her recovery.

Recovery from hip replacements can be slow and require specialized physical therapy.

She wrote: “Hip, hip, hooray. New hip, new me, no problem. A few weeks ago, I had a total hip replacement.

‘After a very active, outdoor childhood (and a skiing accident 30 years ago), I tore all the cartilage in my right hip.

“It was a bone collision and then it developed into severe osteoarthritis. I am very proud of how strong my body is and how well I have recovered.

‘I am now truly bionic, and my loved ones are glad they will never have to see me limp in pain again.

‘A huge thank you to the wonderful nurses at @stvincentshospitalsydney for the care, some Endone (pic 5), lots of rehab and to all my beautiful friends for my flower filled room!

‘Fun fact: 54,000 hip replacements are performed in Australia every year, but I have to say my surgeon, Dr Michael Solomon, is THE best.’
