Daryl Hannah revealed that she was “incredibly eager” to perform nude in the 1984 fantasy comedy film Splash during a new interview with People.
The 63-year-old actress starred alongside Tom Hanks in the film directed by Ron Howard, which followed a young man who fell in love with a woman who turned out to be a mermaid.
Hannah, who shared her support for another actress who will play a mermaid in 2022, has since revealed that she was “really naïve” while working on the film, which was filmed when she was in her early twenties.
She also told the media outlet that she was worried about the prospect of appearing nude while working on Splash.
‘I have traveled a lot around the world, but at the same time I have felt very protected. “I actually hadn’t had a boyfriend yet… so she was incredibly anxious about any nudity,” she recalled.

Kill Bill Vol. One actress went on to claim that Howard’s team devised a method to show much of her skin while she obscured her breasts.
She recalled that “they came up with having my hair cover my breasts because they didn’t want me to have any kind of, I don’t know, a shell bathing suit or anything, which I understood.”
Hannah also talked about a scene in which she kissed Hanks and recalled that she chose to avoid any physical contact during rehearsals.
‘Once you do it once, it will be easier to achieve it next time. But that first time, when you don’t know someone and you have to kiss them, it’s very embarrassing. At least for me it was,” she said.
Hannah humorously added that her experience filming the film was “very embarrassing.”
Hannah concluded her interview by expressing that although she had largely stepped away from her acting career, she wouldn’t mind appearing in the right project.
“I guess if something really cool came along that I thought would transform me that way, I could do it,” he said.
In addition to the actress and her co-star, the film starred artists such as Eugene Levy, Dody Goodman and John Candy.

The film also received positive reviews from critics and has a score of 91% on rotten tomatoes.
Screenwriters Bruce Jay Friedman, Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel, as well as story collaborator and producer Brian Grazer, were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for their work on the project.
