Michail Antonio has criticized Roy Keane’s ‘dinosaur mentality’ after the Manchester United legend criticized players who host podcasts.

The West Ham striker has co-hosted the BBC Sounds Footballer’s Football podcast since 2021 alongside Callum Wilson and, more recently, Fulham captain Tom Cairney.

Keane, without mentioning any names, said on the Stick to Football podcast: “I think that [podcasts] It can be a distraction for a player, especially if you’re coming off a loss, you’re into the next day and everyone’s having a little laugh.

“I don’t think you should laugh for a week or two if you’ve been hit.”

Speaking on his latest podcastAntonio, in response, criticized the Sky Sports pundit’s ‘dinosaur mentality’ and insisted that today’s footballers focus on more than just the game itself, compared to Keane’s playing days.

He said: “It’s a dinosaur mentality because when he [Keane] While I was playing, every coach, every fan, everyone was constantly saying: ‘Focus on your football.’ Fall asleep with a soccer ball in your arms; the only thing you can think about is football. “Your wife takes care of your children, don’t play with your children: football.”

—That’s what happened when I played. Obviously over time the players who played with him went bankrupt because all they thought about was football and that was it.

“Now obviously footballers focus on their football, they can do football, but they can also focus on other things: business, fashion, some are rappers now. People focus on other things.

‘If I have time to do this, why shouldn’t I? With the podcast, I understand that if you get hit on the weekend, which happened to me, it’s not about being sad for two weeks because there’s another game next week. You must forget what happened last weekend and improve it the following week.

“That’s why a lot of players struggle with mental health issues because people tell them they have to fight for two whole weeks because they got hit at the weekend. No, you deal with it. You’re sad when you leave and for that night .’
