The departure comes after it was announced that Rose’s hit 1999 Australian film Two Hands will receive a sequel 25 years later.
The film starred 19-year-old Heath and Rose in a hilarious and confrontational gangster story that has developed a cult following over the years.
It was written and directed by Australian filmmaker Gregor Jordan, who recently said The Sydney Morning Herald He had finished writing a sequel.
‘We have a script that I think is really good. It brings it to the present day,” Jordan began.
“If we had tried to make a sequel five years later, it probably wouldn’t have worked, but 25 years later is the right time.”
Jordan added that he hoped to bring back some of the actors from the first part to reprise their roles.
Heath Ledger, who tragically died of a prescription drug overdose in 2008, was the lead actor in the film and therefore would not be able to reprise his role as gangster deliveryman Jimmy.

Jordan added that he felt both Heath and Rose were perfectly cast in their roles, in which their characters formed a romance while on the run from Sydney gangsters, led by Bryan Brown.
‘Heath made it something special because he was special as an actor and as a screen presence. The same thing happened with Rose, she was about to explode too.’
Both actors used the film to help launch their careers in Hollywood, and Heath appeared in iconic films such as The Dark Knight and 10 Things I Hate About You.
Meanwhile, Rose has appeared in a host of popular films, including Bad Neighbors and Get Him to the Greek.
She has been in a relationship with American actor Bobby Cannavale since 2012 and has two children with him.
