Rory McIlroy

This month’s LIV Golf vs PGA Tour showdown will see Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka make history in Las Vegas.

It is believed that for the first time in history, the winner of a major sporting competition will receive their prize money entirely in cryptocurrency.

Scheffler and McIlroy, two of the PGA Tour’s biggest stars, will face DeChambeau and Koepka, two of the most high-profile defectors from the Saudi-backed breakaway.

The unofficial clash between the rival tours, known as The Crypto.com Showdown, will take place at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas on December 17.

On Monday it became known that the two teams will duel for a prize of 10 million dollars. But the winners and losers will be paid in CRO tokens.

Most PGA Tour tournaments, aside from the majors and signature events, offer total prize money between $8 million and $9 million.
