Ron DeSantis has raced to the defense of his 2024 Republican rival, Donald Trump, to attack the Justice Department and ask why he isn’t going after Hillary Clinton or Hunter Biden.
The Governor of Florida said Thursday night: “The militarization of federal law enforcement poses a deadly threat to a free society.”
He attacked the Biden administration hours after Trump revealed he had been charged with seven federal counts in the classified documents case.
However, DeSantis, who ranks second in polls across the country, did not say he would forgive Trump if elected.

DeSantis and Trump traded bars as the 2024 Republican campaign for president heats up.
But DeSantis let his guard down to criticize the decision that makes Trump the first president to face federal charges.
He joined Republican members of Congress in tearing up the double standard of justice and said the timing of the indictment was timely given new allegations that President Biden took a bribe. $5 million wine from a Burisma executive when he was vice president.

His attorney Jim Trusty also confirmed he was charged with withholding national defense secrets in violation of the Espionage Act, misrepresentation and conspiracy to obstruct justice.
Prosecutors have been investigating the transfer of presidential records to his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida since last year.
The investigation made headlines in August when the FBI raided Trump’s Florida home, recovering 11,000 documents, around 100 of which were marked as classified.
For his part, Trump has repeatedly insisted he did nothing wrong and was the victim of a federal witch hunt.
At times, the controversy has even bolstered his standing in the polls and allowed him to raise money from supporters who see a “deep state” plot to knock him out of the 2024 race.
