Sam Draper admitted to suffering from “post pod anxiety” after making controversial comments on his 200 Plus Podcast.

The Essendon ruckman co-hosts a podcast with North Melbourne’s Charlie Comben and journalist Nick Butler, and last week gave his opinion on rival club the Western Bulldogs.

“I’ve got a big call about the Doggies… if Bevo (coach Luke Beveridge) is still there there will be some players asking for changes,” he said.

He did not go so far as to name the players he believes are contemplating a departure, but he opined that superstar Bailey Smith will definitely leave the club.

“He’s gone, everyone knows that,” he said of Smith, whose contract expires at the end of the year.

Unsurprisingly, Draper’s honest comments sparked a backlash from the football world, with Cameron Mooney telling SEN that the Bombers will be furious with their star man’s comments.

“You really just put your foot in it – you don’t comment on other clubs, mate,” Mooney said.

‘I love and love Sammy Draper, he shoots from the hip.

‘Excellent for us, excellent forage.

“Keep up the good work Sammy, we love it.”

Draper said he felt some “post pod anxiety” following his comments about the Bulldogs and Seven reports he has apologized to the rival club since the comments.

He also spoke about how he received sickening online abuse for his role in the controversial finish to Essendon’s win over Adealide, in which he leaned on the ball but was not penalized for holding it.
