Rob Brydon wowed fans on Monday night when he brought out a Gavin and Stacey star for a duet on stage during his Christmas show.

The actor, 59, who plays Uncle Bryn in the hit comedy series, had entertained fans with his show Rob Brydon & His Fabulous Band: A Festive Night Of Songs & Laughter at London’s Lyceum Theatre.

But the star went a step further when he later introduced Ruth Jones, 58, who introduced herself as the hilarious Nessa Jenkins, much to the delight of the shocked audience.

Nessa, dressed in her signature black leather vest, proceeded to utter her famous “what’s going on” catchphrase as she approached her co-star.

The pair then broke into a rendition of Baby, It’s Cold Outside and both stayed in character throughout.

In the fun song, the duo sang adapted lyrics referencing the popular show, with Nessa making comments like ‘Tidy’ and Don’t Mess With Me’.

Rob and Ruth were greeted with enthusiastic applause from the crowd as they finished their song, and the pair stayed in character for a later exchange.

Nessa told Bryn: ‘I’m not going to lie, that song makes me very uncomfortable.’

To which Bryn replied: ‘Yes, yes, that’s fine, because just like we did it, YOU were the sexual predator!’

Nessa responded, “I know, I found this all very triggering, I think we should sing something else.”

This wasn’t the only time Ruth and Rob duetted as their characters.

The two previously channeled Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers while singing their 1983 song Islands In The Stream at Gwen’s birthday party.

It comes after Strictly Come Dancing gave viewers an early Christmas gift with an exclusive world first look at Gavin and Stacey’s Christmas special.

The hit series will return to our screens in December for what is being called the final episode.

BBC viewers were given a glimpse of the long-awaited special during the finale, which ultimately saw Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell crown the winners.

The new episode, which will air on Christmas Day, will pick up the dramatic cliffhanger from the 2019 special, in which Nessa got down on one knee and proposed to Smithy.

The 2019 episode, which ended with Nessa’s surprise proposal, became the most-watched TV comedy show since Only Fools and Horses in 2002.

Actress Ruth Jones made an appearance during the Strictly final as Nessa to read the terms and conditions to viewers, while delivering some classic lines.

During her appearance on the BBC show, she was playfully booed with her iconic catchphrase ‘What’s going on?’ to which she quickly replied, ‘Oh, you don’t think I hear that every day!’

The trailer begins with Stacey (Joanna Page) talking on the phone with her husband Gavin (Mathew Horne) while he is at work, bringing back memories of their early days together in the 2000s.

‘Oh, I’m absolutely thrilled, I am. A whole weekend away, just you and me!’ Stacey says excitedly.

‘Well, yeah, except it’s not just you and me, is it?’ Gavin responds, just before some more familiar characters make their entrance.

Enter Smithy (James Corden), cheekily nicknaming Gavin ‘Gaviscon’, while Pam (Alison Steadman) and Mick (Larry Lamb) rush to set the table for a festive family feast.

Pam, as always, is wearing her curlers and dressed in pink, fluttering while her husband ‘Michael’ takes a more relaxed approach, strolling leisurely around the house.

It doesn’t take long for the drama to begin, and Nessa offers a stern warning to her son, Neil the Baby (played by the same actor as the original newborn).

“Pass me those nunchakus,” she tells Stacey, proving she’s still a no-nonsense mother, while Neil sports a mischievous smile.

Meanwhile, Gwen (Melanie Walters) brings up the infamous fishing trip with Bryn (Rob Brydon) and Jason (Robert Wilfort), accusing them of “tearing up the family.”

Gavin and Stacey will air on Christmas Day on BBC One, picking up the cliffhanger from 2019.

Could this finally be the moment we learn what really happened all those years ago?

Fans of Pete (Adrian Scarborough) and Dawn (Julia Davis) will also be happy, as the pair are back to their usual bickering.

In one scene, Dawn calls Pete a “despicable little rat”, proving that they are as fiery as ever.

However, the drama soon fades away and the families are seen dancing wildly and drunk in Pam and Mick’s living room.

Smithy and Nessa get up close and personal, with some really flirty moves.

Does this mean Smithy really said yes to Nessa’s proposal in 2019? It looks like we may finally get some answers this Christmas.
