Jason Timpf joins Kevin O’Connor to discuss seven important takeaways from last weekend’s NBA action ahead of the NBA Cup. The duo starts with the big play of the Miami Heat and Tyler Herro. With Herro stepping up, the guys discuss how Miami could have benefited from not trading Damian Lillard. From there, they dive into the Philadelphia 76ers, as Joel Embiid looks dominant and Jason wonders if Philadelphia has finally turned the corner, as long as they can stay healthy.
They also talk about Brandon Miller, who has been impressing early for Charlotte, and the Indiana Pacers, for whom things could get ugly with Tyrese Haliburton in a slump. KOC and Jason also talked about Cooper Flagg, Brandon Ingram’s injury, and the Denver Nuggets.
The NBA Cup is front and center, with the guys analyzing the Milwaukee Bucks’ title chances and the best game of Giannis’ career. In addition, they analyze the Orlando Magic, the growing Oklahoma City Thunder and the Dallas Mavericks; Jason even picked Dallas as his favorite to win it all.
Finally, they conclude with the Golden State Warriors drama surrounding Draymond Green’s bench and the balance between veterans and young talent in today’s NBA before turning musical with a discussion of the Las Vegas Sphere, the Grateful Dead and the impact of John Mayer in music.
