Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth split! Actress announces ‘difficult decision’ to divorce – TWO days before her 12th wedding anniversary
Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth are divorcing after nearly 12 years of marriage.
The movie star, 47, shared the news via her Instagram on Friday afternoon in a joint statement from her and Jim, 52 days before their 12th wedding anniversary.
“We have some personal news to share… It is with great care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the mother of three wrote.
“We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and we are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for all that we have created together.”
Reese and Jim, who married on March 26, 2011, share one child: Tennessee James, 10; She has two children from her first marriage to Ryan Phillippe: Ava, 23, and Deacon, 19.

Reese and Jim continued in their statement: “Our highest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter. These matters are never easy and are extremely personal.
“We really appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy like this time: Reese and Jim.” she concluded.
A source told People magazine after the news broke that Reese and Jim’s split is “amicable.”
“They really are the best of friends and this is such an amicable decision. They are so committed to co-parenting together. They invest in their entire family and make this as easy as possible for everyone,” the source said.
In July, Reese shared photos on Instagram of her with Jim to mark his birthday, captioning the set: “Happy birthday to my sweet husband, JT!
I don’t know anyone who loves the Tour de France / road cycling / @arsenal / @nashvillesc / @steelers… oh and GOLF… basically every sport more than YOU. I love you so much!’
She also marked her 11th wedding anniversary last year on Instagram by saying in a post: ‘Happy Anniversary JT!! 11 years of adventures, love and laughter. I feel so lucky to share this wonderful life with you.’
Recalling their first meeting in a 2012 chat with Elle magazine, which happened at a friend’s house after she split from 42-year-old actor Jake Gyllenhaal.

Jim walked over and said, “Please excuse my friend. He just broke up with someone.”
‘Jim was a very good friend, getting him out of that situation. That’s how he is, a very good person.’
She also told People that she loved him for being a “wonderful organizer” and “great leader” who “knows how to bring people together” and being “patient” and “fun” with kids.
Reese and Jake separated in December 2009, and she met Jim in January 2010; they got engaged in December 2010.
