Three YouTube pranksters have been criticized for footage showing an ATM prank gone horribly wrong after one of them suffered a broken nose.

Daniel Maran, Robert Milazzo and George Proestos staged the mock robbery outside a Sydney ATM.

Footage shows the pranksters pretending to rob each other before a bystander, thinking it was real, tried to step in and punch one of the boys in the face and break his nose.

Video has surfaced of a YouTube prank gone wrong with teens pretending to ‘rob’ each other at a Sydney ATM

The video was shared on YouTube in 2014 under the channel “Reckless Youth,” before being rediscovered on Tuesday by sports blog Barstool Sports.

“Play stupid games and win stupid prizes,” the caption read.

Social media users attacked the pranksters, saying they were lucky they walked away with only a broken nose.

“My only complaint is that he was only hit once,” one wrote.

“This is no joke, even though he had no intention of doing any harm. He deserved it all,” wrote a second.

“The ‘it’s a joke’ card was used very quickly when sh** got real,” a third added.

“I see this as ‘poetic justice’. Pretend to be a criminal for a joke… get treated like a real criminal immediately,” added another.

So I guess this is the end of his YouTube career? On to new adventures,’ said a fifth.

Footage showed one of the pranksters using the ATM before being grabbed from behind by his friend posing as a thief.

He pulls his friend to the ground and the pair begin to struggle on the floor of the mall.

A passerby, unaware it was a prank, is then seen rushing to the rescue, landing his right hand on the prankster’s face and breaking his nose.

The trio then yell “It’s a joke,” but it’s too late, as the teen’s nose is dripping with blood.

Group member Mr Maran said in the aftermath that it was done as a social experiment to see if people would help in an actual robbery.

“Every comment was negative saying how stupid we are, how stupid this joke is,” he said.

“Honestly, I didn’t think it would be this negative. I thought we’d have a few people say this is a lame joke – but literally almost every comment is a hate comment.”

The video was posted alongside several other fake thefts where the teens pretended to rob someone before confessing to onlookers that it was for YouTube.
