Australians were left furious after a driver’s “rude” act on a suburban street blocked by another car, prompting a neighbor to leave a note denouncing the behaviour.
A woman visiting her relative’s home in Newcastle, New South Wales, was forced to move her 4×4 across her front yard after a careless driver parked in front of the house’s driveway.
The visitor slowly maneuvered her 4×4 vehicle across the tight yard space, prompting a neighbor who was watching to leave a handwritten note under the windshield wipers of the parked car.
Wanting to let the car owner know the inconvenience they had caused, the passer-by did not hold back.
The car (pictured) was almost completely parked in a driveway in Newcastle, New South Wales, forcing a 4×4 that was visiting its elderly relative to maneuver through the narrow front yard space.
A passerby observed the commotion and decided to leave a note (in the photo) for the owner of the parked car, so that he would be aware of the drama they caused.
‘Please don’t park in the driveway next time you visit! It’s just rude!’ the note said.
Drivers joked online that they wouldn’t have left a “nice” note.
“It’s a fucking joke,” one wrote.
The white car, parked illegally on the street, was very close to another car, which was parked legally, resulting in too small a space for the 4×4 to pull out of the driveway (pictured).
Despite the obvious inconvenience of being trapped when a person parks in a driveway, it can also prevent people from receiving emergency care by blocking ambulance access.
It is also considered a safety risk for pedestrians who may have difficulty accessing a property, and can also limit visibility for road users to see who is using the footpath.
In New South Wales, it is illegal for motorists to stop in a driveway unless they are picking up or dropping off passengers.
The driver must remain in the vehicle and must move forward within two minutes, and parking is strictly prohibited, as established by state law.
In New South Wales, a motorist who parks on a driveway faces a fine of $302 for the offence, while Queenslanders can be fined $309.
For safety reasons, it is also illegal to park in front of your own driveway.
A Sydney man who lived across the street from a school was fined in 2016 after he parked in front of its driveway to avoid other cars blocking his path during school pick-up and drop-off times, reported yahoo.
