Rangers rookie Matt Rempe found himself in another brutal fight Sunday night, when he took a beating at the hands of Mathieu Olivier.

In the first period of Sunday night’s game between New York and the Columbus Blue Jackets, the 6-foot-7 giant was knocked down after a brief but wild fight.

He had a 6-inch lead on Olivier, but Rempe was on the end of several shots before being tackled to the ice, much to the delight of the crowd in Columbus.

This means the 21-year-old has been involved in a fight in three of his first five NHL appearances.

Rempe took off the gloves in his first shift while making his debut last week.

The 21-year-old has been involved in a fight in three of his first five NHL appearances.

Rempe is escorted to the penalty area with blood coming from his nose on Sunday night.

This fight came just 24 hours after Rempe and Flyers veteran Nicolas Deslauriers traded blows in Philadelphia on Saturday night.

In fact, things started between the two during pre-game warmups, when both were seen talking to each other.

“He asked me in warmups,” Rempe said. “He’s a really tough customer and he said, ‘Let’s go.’ It was a big fight. We were dropping bombs. He got the juices flowing and it was unreal.”

A day later, the Calgary native was spoken to again during warmups and his mettle on the ice was once again tested.

On Saturday night, the rookie was involved in another brutal fight against Nicolas Deslauriers.

This time, Rempe was left bloodied and beaten after Olivier delivered several hard blows to the rookie’s face and head.

Rempe eventually fell to the ice, causing the referees to intervene and get him back on his feet.

The Blue Jackets won 4-2 in Columbus, snapping the New York franchise’s record 10-game winning streak.

It’s been a big week for Rempe, who battled Islanders tough guy Matt Martin during his first shift in his NHL debut in a Stadium Series game.

He was also ejected for a hit to the head by New Jersey’s Nathan Bastian in New York’s 5-1 win over the Devils on Thursday.
