Princess Anne has left hospital and returned to her Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire, Buckingham Palace confirmed today.
She had been in Southmead Hospital in Bristol since Sunday night after suffering a concussion and minor head injuries when she was hit by a horse.
The 73-year-old was visited by her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, and also her daughter Zara Tindall during her stay in hospital.
Anne’s concussion has meant that the precise details of the incident remain unclear.
The princess’s medical team said her head injuries were consistent with a possible impact from the head or legs of a horse.
