Primark is making a splash in the swimwear world with the launch of its new range of affordable period swimwear – but it has left fans in a heated debate over the practicality of these “game-changing” products.
Designed to provide comfort and convenience, Primark’s new collection includes swim briefs and one-piece swimsuits, providing a practical solution for managing periods while enjoying water activities.
Better yet – you won’t need to break the bank to get your hands on the range – which fans have likened to Modibodi’s high-end period clothing – as prices start from £6 for a swim brief and £16.99 for a swimsuit.
On its website, when advertising the new one-piece swimsuit, Primark says: “Feel safer during your cycle with this specially designed period swimsuit!
Made from polyester and elastane, the inner layer of each garment in the range is designed to fight odors and bacteria, followed by an absorbent layer to trap fluids, a waterproof layer to prevent leaks and an ultra-soft outer layer for comfort.

Primark is making a splash in the swimwear world with the launch of its range of affordable period swimwear – but it’s leaving fans in a heated debate over the products’ practicality.
For efficient reuse, the fashion retailer advises customers to rinse in cold water immediately after wearing until the water runs clear, before adding to laundry without fabric softener.
However, the launch became the source of debate among fans, who discussed the pros and cons of wearing the swimsuit in the water or on the beach.
Satisfied shopper Lucy Bennett took to Facebook on March 19 to share her excitement over the “revolutionary” garment she had purchased.
Uploading a photo of the period swimsuit briefs to the Primark Haul group – which has more than 186,000 members – Bennett wrote: “Another game changer from Primark, especially for teenage girls!”
Other fans agreed, with one person writing: “Brilliant initiative, Primark are so good at this sort of thing.”
Another contributor commented: “They’re also really comfortable,” while a third said: “I used them so well last year, it’s definitely a game changer.” »
However, not all reactions to the new range have been positive, with some skeptical people expressing concerns about hygiene and cleanliness, questioning the practicality of period swimwear for use in public places .
One person wrote: “Sounds unhygienic, I don’t know,” while another said: “I still wouldn’t take the risk.” »

A third, unconvinced contributor commented: “I hope no one wears these while swimming in a pool.” The blood will literally be washed away in the water. These are intended for dry use only, i.e. for tanning.
One Primark fan, who remained neutral while discussing the benefits of the clothing, said: “I don’t think it’s really for swimming. More to wear to the beach for just spotting. This is why people use the Modibodi brand.
Despite the mixed reactions, Primark remains committed to providing accessible and inclusive options to its customers, ensuring everyone can feel comfortable and confident in their own skin.
The period swimwear launch comes as Rita Ora dazzles while modeling her “fun and formal” new spring collection with Primark.
The 33-year-old singer looked breathtaking in a stunning shoot to accompany the big release, with pretty ensembles perfecting the sun-kissed vibe.
