PS5 pre-orders are scheduled to go live on September 17, and with the UK arriving there a little earlier, select retailers have already gotten PS5 pre-orders on their shelves. This year’s pre-orders are likely to be first-come, first-served, and with retailers like Game already opening their own order books, it’s all to play for.
We list all retailers who have (or have had) PS5 pre-order landing pages, so these are the stores to check for those early orders. We will update with the latest information as it comes in, but the next 24 hours will change minute by minute so it is best to consult these retailers if you are serious about hunting.
You can cover your bets with these individual email notifications, or sign up to TechRadar’s proprietary system – we’ll bring you the best PS5 pre-order deals as soon as they go live, so you can go straight to the best retailers. Microsoft has announced that Xbox Series X pre-orders will go live on September 22, so we expect more news from Sony every day.
PS5 pre-orders in the US
If you’re shopping in the US, we recommend going to Best Buy, Amazon, GameStop or Walmart for your PS5 pre-order. Best Buy and Amazon have stock ready, while GameStop as a more focused retailer is more likely to offer a few incentives alongside your new console.
However, Walmart was one of the first US retailers to switch to PS5 pre-orders, with product listings already available. However, check any retailer as these things can change from minute to minute in these early hours.
Walmart has products on its shelves, with PS5 pre-orders almost going live. While there is no inventory at the time of writing, it seems like a good place to start with an early order that’s ahead of the crowds.
Best Buy still only takes PS5 pre-order registrations at the time of writing, but now that things are moving fast at other retailers, it’s worth checking if this tech giant already has the stock on the shelves.
Amazon’s pre-order page for the PS5 remains unchanged at the time of writing and only offers the option to register your interest. However, the retailer will likely have a huge inventory of PS5 pre-orders on the books, and the infrastructure to support such a large number of orders, so you have a good chance of getting your own orders here.
As a more gaming focused retailer, GameStop will no doubt be offering a good chunk of PS5 pre-order slots. Plus, with all of its struggles over the years, it also provides additional incentives to drive customers away from the larger stores. However, many others will be heading here as well, so make sure to have your name on that notification list soon.
PS5 pre-orders in the UK
September 17 rolled around much earlier for UK shoppers, meaning more retailers are starting to take over their PS5 pre-orders. Check out the latest news below for early orders, but keep in mind that everything here is only true at the time of writing, so make sure to check your favorite retailers for the best chance.
Amazon’s pre-order page for the PS5 has strangely disappeared from the UK store, meaning big things are happening behind the scenes. We wouldn’t be surprised if pre-orders go live here very soon, so we’re keeping a finger on that refresh button.
Add your contact information to Currys’ PS5 interest registration page to get your email address on the list for the first notification when PS5 pre-orders launch. Currys will probably have a good stock of consoles on the way when they hit the market, so it’s good to have a strong seller behind your dashboard for a unit.
The Argos PS5 pre-order page is straightforward at this point, but as a less tech-focused retailer, you will face a lot less competition when trying to pick up a first wave shipment. However, you can still register your interest in an email notification here.
If you’d like to order your PS5 through Very, you can get started by signing up on its own notification page. Registering your interest will put you in the best position when those early purchases go live.
Game previously had PS5 pre-orders available, the first UK retailer to do so, but they all seem to be out of stock at the time of writing. Selected stores, however, open at 8am for personalized pre-orders.
