An Arkansas senator defended Donald Trump’s mental faculties amid a series of gaffes by the presidential hopeful and insisted he is “110 percent” comfortable with the former president’s abilities.
On CBS Sunday, Dan Sullivan jumped to Trump’s defense after he was presented with a video clip in which Trump appeared to confuse Biden with Barack Obama and incorrectly suggested that the United States has troops on the ground in Ukraine.
Sullivan said there was “no comparison” to Trump’s rival, Joe Biden, who has been criticized for his cognitive function.
‘Are you comfortable with your mental fitness?’ CBS’ Margaret Brenann asked Sullivan after playing footage taken at a rally in Virginia.
‘Compared to the current president? One hundred and ten percent,” responded the Republican senator.

Sullivan was shown a clip in which Trump confuses Joe Biden and Barack Obama and incorrectly claims that the United States has troops in Ukraine.

‘And as your polls show, I think the American people have real concerns about where President Biden stands with his fitness for office, particularly his mental acuity.
“And relative to President Biden, or former President Trump, I don’t even think it’s close when you see the two of them in action.”
The poll Sullivan cited showed that only 32 percent of voters believe Biden has the mental and cognitive skills necessary to be president.
The same poll showed that 51 percent of voters also don’t believe Trump has the mental faculties to do the job.
But Sullivan, who has supported Trump, 77, responded when Brennan asked him to confirm that there are no US troops in Ukraine.
“I would ask again who is demonstrating the greatest mental fitness to be president, and I don’t even think there’s a close call between President Trump and President Biden right now,” he said.
Trump made Obama’s mistake at Saturday night’s rally.

Sullivan referenced a poll that showed only 32 percent of voters believe Biden has the cognitive abilities to be president, while most voters do not believe Trump has the necessary abilities.
Trump’s recent gaffe is not the first time the Republican front-runner has confused Obama and Biden on the campaign trail.
However, in January he claimed that this was a deliberate tactic to demonstrate his belief that “Obama is running the show.”
Other mistakes have included mixing Republican rival Nikki Haley with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Biden, 81, has also made his fair share of gaffes in recent months.
Two weeks ago, he appeared to confuse his facts once again by confusing a congressional funding bill for Ukraine with that of NATO.
Biden was speaking to reporters as he left his motorcade when he mixed up the facts and called for “Congress to go home and pass legislation that funds NATO.”
Of the $95 billion aid package the president was talking about, $61 billion would be sent to Ukraine, a country that is not part of NATO.
It was the latest mistake made by the president, who recently mixed up the names of world leaders, including former French president Francois Mitterrand, who died in 1996, with his current president, Emmanuel Macron.

Biden angrily refuted claims in special counsel Robert Hur’s report that suggested his memory was failing.
He channeled all his rage toward the reporters in front of him, expressing his fury at the idea, reported by Hur, that he could not remember the date of his beloved son Beau’s death.
It was a powerful and impressive performance until the moment it stopped being so.
After apparently finishing the question-and-answer portion of the appearance, he headed toward the door before being tempted to return to answer one more question about Israel.
