Miss Viet Kitchen, in Port Adelaide, South Australia, announced it would soon be closing its doors on Friday.

Another restaurant was forced to close its doors amid the cost of living crisis.

Miss Viet Kitchen, in Port Adelaide, South Australia, announced on Friday it would close after seven “wonderful” years of service.

Locals described the restaurant as “fantastic” and it even won the silver award at the 2023 National Restaurant and Catering Awards for Best Vietnamese Restaurant.

It offered diners a mix of traditional Vietnamese cuisine with a seafood twist after first opening in 2018.

Unfortunately, however, the owners of Miss Viet Kitchen announced on social media with “great regret” that they could no longer support it.

“It has been an incredible journey and we couldn’t have done it without your incredible support,” its owners wrote.

Customers were encouraged to “come and enjoy their favorite dishes” at the restaurant one last time for one last meal before the doors close for good.

“Your presence will mean a lot to us as we say goodbye,” the post continued.

The owners of Miss Viet Kitchen confirmed that it will close in the coming weeks, but the announcement posted on its social media page did not specify why it would close.

A number of other restaurants in Melbourne and Sydney closed recently citing the rising cost of supplies and staff labor had combined with diners choosing to eat out less while watching their wallets.

Social media users were quick to praise the popular bistro following its shocking closure.

‘It is very sad to hear this news. We have been going almost every week since Holly and her team first opened. We hosted my husband’s 70th birthday at Miss Viet and it was fantastic. Sending you all the best wishes for the future,” one person wrote.

‘I think I need to order 10 times of my favorite menu items and put them in the freezer so I can get my fix. The only bad thing I know is that you’re my staple when I’m not feeling well, the best in Adelaide (in my opinion),’ another added.

Many small businesses, both inside and outside the hospitality industry, have been closing lately due to rising operating costs amid the country’s growing affordability issues.

The report warned that one in 13 businesses would likely fail under current conditions.

CreditorWatch chief executive Patrick Coghlan said the economic problems were likely to get worse before they got better.

“Unfortunately, hospitality is a high-risk sector, even in boom times,” Coghlan said. he told Newcorp.

‘It is difficult for hotel companies to pass on price increases compared to most other sectors. Consumers can easily ‘switch’ to a cheaper location or simply eat at home.’
