Long-time ABC News presenter Karina Carvalho has announced her move to Channel Seven News.
The reporter, who left her post at the ABC last year, will take up a new anchor role at 7News Melbourne from Monday, the outlet reported. The Herald of the Sun.
Karina joins the network during an important transition period under new national news chief Anthony De Ceglie.
De Ceglie has been making notable changes, including downsizing the network’s news departments and introducing a comedy segment in the Friday evening bulletin and a daily horoscope report.
Despite the change, the roles of current 7News presenters Peter Mitchell, Rebecca Maddern and Mike Amor will remain unchanged.
Karina revealed in December last year that she had left her job as an anchor for ABC News after 17 years at the station.
She expressed bittersweet feelings about leaving ABC at the time.
“The ABC will always have a special place in my heart. I’ve been able to meet and work with so many talented people,” she told The Australian ahead of her final bulletin.
“Now is the right time to take the next step in my career and I’m excited to see what lies around the corner. I wish my colleagues at the ABC all the best.”
Karina’s impressive career includes presenting the ABC News program in Brisbane for five years and co-hosting ABC News Breakfast in Melbourne.
His professional prowess has earned him the respect and admiration of both his colleagues and viewers.

Karina has been romantically linked to 3AW sports journalist Sam McClure.
