A passenger has died on board an Air France flight from Paris to Boston despite doctors trying to save them.

The traveler became ill after the flight took off from Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport on Tuesday, NBC Boston reported. Doctors attempted to treat the individual, but they “could not be saved” and died shortly afterwards.

Emergency services were photographed at Boston Logan International Airport on Tuesday evening after the plane landed.

Police described the death as “unattended” but provided no further details. The identity of the individual will not be released until loved ones are notified.

The Massachusetts State Police, whose criminal investigation unit responded to the scene, are investigating the death.

Air France confirmed in a statement to NBC Boston that a passenger on board flight AF334 died following a medical emergency.

“Despite the assistance of a doctor on board, the customer could not be saved,” a spokesperson said. “Air France recalls that its crew members are regularly trained to deal with these types of situations.”

DailyMail.com has reached out to the Massachusetts State Police and the airline for comment. Massachusetts Port Authority, which oversees Boston’s airport, referred us to police.

The tragedy comes just months after a pilot died after collapsing mid-flight during a 12-hour Turkish Airlines flight from Seattle to Istanbul.

The pilot, identified as Ilcehin Pehlivan, collapsed during the October 2024 flight, forcing the plane to make an emergency landing in New York.

Pehlivan, 59, who had worked for Turkish Airlines since 2007, had undergone a medical examination in March and there were no indications of health problems.

Medical emergencies are not uncommon on flights, and data shows that approximately 44,000 flights experience some form of medical event each year.
