Some people like to experience life on the edge, literally.
Incredible images and footage show the chilling “knife-edge” shaped mountain in China, which has a ridge so steep, narrow and gentle it resembles a sword.
And yet tourists continue to visit it, despite the obvious danger: there are no security fences.
One reason for taking the risk is that conquering the ridge, located in the Gaoyi Ridge Scenic Area, is supposed to bring good luck. Some might say that hikers hoping to do so must have first obtained a good supply elsewhere.
One YouTuber who tried it gave up near the top, revealing he was “shaking.”

The traveler, who calls himself by his username ‘Walk East’He filmed his entire exploration of Gaoyi Ridge, revealing “steep stairs” and “amazing views” at the beginning of his journey, along with many walkways with handrails.
Then continue tackling a knife-edge mountain, revealing a breathtaking little walkway and otherworldly soft edges.
As you slowly make your way along the ridge, you stop and reveal stunning views of the mountain landscape and cliffs on either side.
Conquering the ridge, which has no safety fences, is supposed to bring good luck. One YouTuber who attempted it gave up near the top and revealed he was “shaking.”
Then a subtitle appears that says: “Sorry, I don’t have the guts to continue.”
A moment later, one of the two daredevil tourists who could be seen taking photos at the summit walks back and hurries past, saying he is “scared.”
‘Walk East’ follows him, relieved that he ‘has someone to follow’.
Gaoyi Ridge Scenic Area (also known as Gaoqi Ling) covers 20 square miles and can be found in Chenzhou in Hunan Province.
