Manchester City climbed back into the top four of the Premier League on Wednesday with a 1-0 win over Brighton.
The hosts took control from the opening substitution and Kevin De Bruyne had a good chance, but Robert Sanchez put away the Belgian’s attempt.
Phil Foden gave Pep Guardiola the lead just before half-time with an excellent finish after his first touch took him away from the Brighton defenders.
Riyad Mahrez and Joao Cancelo had golden opportunities to double City’s advantage, but they were unable to convert. Raheem Sterling had a golden opportunity to add to his number in injury time, but the winger shot his penalty over the crossbar.
